BSS in the Community
Being active in the community is important to us and our team. Whether it is in our cities, our onsite locations, or beyond, we are committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate and helping those in need.
Parkerville Children and Youth Care Chosen as Winner of 10,000 Step Challenge
The BSS & Gryphon Psychology Wellbeing team joined forces across the two businesses and initiated the 10,000 Steps Challenge. Participants aimed to reach 10,000 steps a day for the month of November, to improve health and wellbeing, with the winning team reaching over 2 million steps! The winning team was also asked to select a charity to which BSS Psychology would make a donation. We are pleased to advise the recipient of the donation is Parkerville Children and Youth Care.
Parkerville Children and Youth Care was chosen for the amazing work they do, helping provide a safe space for children and adolescents who have suffered physical or mental trauma and abuse. Their family friendly centres provide a facility where psychologists, child and family advocates and other allied health workers can meet with the children safely, promoting the importance of child safety and wellbeing.
Parkerville Children and Youth Care’s Child, Youth and Family Centres are community-based, family-friendly facilities where professionals from different agencies and disciplines come together to provide specialist services for children, young people and families who have experienced abuse. Police, child protection workers, psychologists, child and family advocates and other allied health workers form a dedicated Multi-Agency Investigation and Support Team (MIST) team to reduce the harmful impacts of abuse trauma.

Reconciliation Week 2024
As part of Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), BSS Psychology once again led our Act of Promise. Our promise is to support and encourage the education of our country’s history and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture. We do this by supplying a selection of children’s picture books to a WA primary school annually. These books are written by, illustrated or tell stories of our First Nations People and Country.
Through our affiliation with The Clontarf Foundation and the incredible work they do, we selected Baynton West Primary School (Karratha) as the recipients of our books this year. The books were presented by one of our Onsite Clinicians Sara Vaz. “The books were so well received said Sara, Principal Lisa Ledger was very grateful and arranged for four students to receive the books along with the school librarian Emily Main.”
The children are pictured with the books with Sara and Emily, along with messages of reconciliation placed on Baynton West Primary’s Reconciliation Tree.
Congratulations Daniel
BSS began sponsoring Daniel in 2009 when he was grade one, supporting his educational journey at The School of St Jude in Tanzania. We are excited to announce, this year Daniel has completed his secondary studies and has recently graduated from St Judes. Daniel has now commenced his Community Service Semester (CSS)
in the Beyond St Jude’s (BSJ) Program. As volunteers, they share their gift of education with others in their community.
